Poem: An Awakening

An Awakening: The Attainment of Spiritual Ideals

Why does thou brood in silence behind a cage
Let thy melody rouse the world, o Master
That it shines more brightly than the awakening skies.
Let thy song guide the eternal dancer through the skies from sunrise to sunset
Let it water the earth in my bones and give me strength which I know of naught
To find the forgotten Island of my Soul
And guide my sailing spirit to shore.

  1. I was in eighth grade when I wrote this poem, three years ago. I have forgotten its message because I've read it over the years to myself again and again, and the message got diluted within me. But I suddenly remembered what motivated me to write it again. When I wrote this, I imagined wide sweeping spaces. I remembered calling out to eternal spirit, and I imagined oceans and lands getting swept away by insurmountable strength, and beseeching a powerful will that drives the universe. I imagined a person attaining his inner man when I wrote this.

  2. this was perhaps the best way you could have started out...and I am very happy with these thoughts...undoubtedly very well portrayed...look forward to many more such works...and waiting for my composition too...
