Welcoming Home the Beloved Traveler
I pray for verses long gone byThat I may sing again with my vain lips
What paltry wreaths are my songs to crown your trials as you have come home?
My gaze wanders down the forest path,
The steady pulse of ages long past reverberates in your steps homeward bound.
Your heart, eager to behold home at last,
forgets all bounds self-imposed as you left.
A desperate longing for life in your eyes,
You come to me silently with arms outstretched.
I sing to you what songs I may
wondering if they can rouse you to strength once more.
